Work and Accommodation conditions for students with Australian working visa (SAWVers) and Willing Workers On Organic Farms (WWOOFers) Summer 2009-2010 Lakelands Olives Grove is a certified organic biodynamic farm, on which we grow 4000 olive trees. We are near Mudgee in the NSW Central Ranges at 700 metres above sea level. Our team works like a family, caring for the farm, the environment and each other. WWOOFers and SAWVers work alongside us for an agreed number of hours a day and we, in return, provide them with free lodging and free self-drive transport in our farm vehicle between the farm and the accommodation. WWOOFers will receive $15 per day for their self-cater meals. SAWVers will be paid $15/hr + legal entitlements. They will have to pay for their self-cater meals.
We have a
policy of allowing WWOOFers and/or SAWVers to initially
stay for three days, after which longer stays can be
mutually agreed. Immediate termination will be required
if we feel that our standards and hospitality have been
disrespected. Work is varied and seasonal and includes general farm work and maintenance such as caring for the olive trees by weeding, mulching, spraying, pruning, harvesting, etc. Work also includes assistance with making biodynamic preparations and caring for our biodynamic herb garden. It also includes help with some household duties such as window cleaning, general cleaning and gardening. SAWVers and/or WWOOFers will not be expected to use tractors or chain saws unless they have completed the necessary safety training courses and hold Australian permits to operate such implements. Accommodation We can accommodate up to three WWOOFers and/or SAWVers in a fully equipped shed, located at a nearby property. They will have the use of the bathroom and kitchen facility in the shed and are requested to keep the accommodation clean.
The
accommodation and facilities are mixed sex. Any intrusion of the private part of the farm or accommodation will lead to immediate termination of the permit to work and stay. Visitors are not allowed at any time and in any part of the farm and/or the accommodation property. General We will pick-up WWOOFers and/or SAWVers from Ilford or Clandulla Countrylink bus stop. Coin operated laundry facilities and Public Phone/Internet facilities are available in Kandos. Please note that presently only Telstra Next G mobile phones work in our area. We only accept SAWVers holding valid Australian Working Holiday or Student visas. We require proof of the visa before we accept SAWVers applications. We only accept WWOOFers who are fully registered members of the association. You can contact the WWOOFers Association on www.wwoof.com.au or phone 03-5155 0218. WWOOFers will have to sign our WWOOF Guestbook. We require your personal details (Full name, date of birth, place of birth, national and international driver’s licence details, WWOOF member number) by email, fax or mail and your written acceptance of these conditions before we can accept your application. All details will have to be verified when you arrive at the grove. Any discrepancy will lead to immediate termination of the permit to work and stay.
