November 2005 On an unusually warm spring day in November, locals and visitors alike enjoyed a day of great Rylstone hospitality. The 2005 Rylstone Street Feast, now in its fourth year, embodies the true spirit of the Rylstone region's naturally friendly approach to welcoming visitors. The day is a showcase of the region's excellent food and wine set in the main street of the historic and picturesque village of Rylstone. A range of stalls set within a market atmosphere shared everything from locally made crafts, jewellery and clothing to the best in local wine and food products. Naturally, Lakelands Olives were on board with their range of new season Extra Virgin olive oils on offer. Lakelands Olives were passionate in their approach by emphasizing the Rylstone region's excellence in top quality olive oil production. The crowd enjoyed a morning of food and wine sampling combined with a stroll through the main-street-cum-market-place before sitting down to a four course lunch served at tables that ran almost the length of the main street. The menu featured a shared starter plate of local marinated olives, Arch Vale Smoked Trout Pate, Mudgee Pesto Fetta and delicious rustic hand-made breads matched with fresh, grassy Lakelands Olives Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This was followed by a frittata of local eggs, fresh herbs and Jannei fresh curd cheese served with AC Butchery proscuitto and fresh asparagus. The main course was succulent Rylstone Roast Pork served with whole baked spiced apples and pumpkin with garlic and rosemary roast potatoes balanced by a crisp green salad. Diners were treated to communal cruets of Lakelands Olives Extra Virgin Olive Oil with which to dress their salads and vegetable side dishes. This marathon food event finished with a classic lemon tart made from local eggs and lemons and served with fresh berries. The 2006 Rylstone Street Feast will be held on Saturday 4th November and promises to be bigger and better than ever. Ticket sales will commence in September.
