Olive oil is one of the oldest and most natural
foods in the world. References of olive trees
and oil date as far back as the Ancient
Egyptians. Today, olive oil is most valued for
its culinary versatility and is an essential
part of healthy eating.
First Cold Decanter Pressed Extra Virgin
olive oils are rich in Polyphenols and
Tocopherols (Vitamin E) and are a proven source
of health benefiting anti-oxidants. Scientific
research has shown that Extra Virgin olive oil,
which is rich in monounsaturated and low in
polyunsaturated fatty acids, has an important
role in the reduction of LDL and
maintenance of HDL cholesterol levels, thus
helping to protect against heart and coronary
disease.
Our First Cold Decanter Pressed Extra Virgin
olive oils are classified as Premium Highland
Estate Oils, for which we only use our very
finest olives. This ensures that quality and
organoleptic characteristics are controlled and
guaranteed year after year. Our oils are not
blended with lower quality oils, contrary to
many commercial olive oils which are
mass-produced and often contain solvent
extracted oils (eg.'Pure Oil', 'Light Oil').
Free fatty acids (FFA) are an indicator of oil
quality. FFA levels for Extra Virgin oils have
to be below 0.8% according to international
standards. We aim to produce oils with FFA
levels well below, thus providing oils of
highest quality.
Olive oil deteriorates with exposure to air and light.
We recommend keeping it in an air-tight bottle
or container protected from heat and light. Best
protection of its quality is to use and enjoy it
generously. Kindly check our recommended 'Best
Before' date when buying our oil.
Our oil reflects
the varietal characteristics and maturity of the
olives used, resulting in distinctive and
exciting flavours. It is best used as a dressing
and for delicate cooking. Be innovative and
explore the flavour of Lakelands Olives' oils on
pasta, fish, vegetable soups, salads, in
marinades and many other healthy and tasty
dishes.
Enjoy.
